A stash of photos by Robert Frank, long-thought to be lost were recently discovered in the NY Times archives. The images were part of a book, “New York Is” which was created for prospective advertisers for the Times. Other photographers like Lillian Bassman and Roy DeCarava were included in the collection. “New York Is” came out the year before Robert Frank’s masterpiece “The Americans” was released, forever changing the world of photography!
